Joe graduated from Caldwell High School in 1969; he joined the U.S. Navy in 1970 and served till 1974.
He was an Aviation Machinist Mate (Jet) who was trained to work on the engines of the F-4 Phantom Jet at Memphis in 1970; He then
transferred to Miramar Naval Air Station, near San Diego, California and was assigned to VF-151, the fighting Vigilantes. VF-151 was deployed to the USS Midway (CVA-41) and that is where he served during the Vietnam War.
He married Edna in 1973 and after discharge he and his wife moved to Central Texas. They still call that area home.
They have one son (Jeff, who is married to April), three grandchildren (Chanse, Parker, and Paige), two step grandchildren (Martin and Christian) and one very special little Bichon Frise, Zazu!
Joe enjoys reading and studying about early American History (mostly about Native American’s and the very early explorers of the western part of America and often blogs about Veteran issues, along with occasional conservative political issues and just about anything that comes to his mind while his wife and he travel the roads of America enjoying their retirement.
